Balloon hats and mechanical horses | Posted on : Jul 29, 2004 by Katie McLane Allison |
Every year since our 10 year reunion, Christy and 'the gang' have gathered in Vegas to get together and have a weekend of fun. When I say the 'the gang' I usually mean, Christy, me, Julie, AJ, Natalie, with my husband Jim in tow. Scott and Shelly always in our thoughts, but not always able to join our festivities. March 2002, we started our Friday night off by going to ESPN zone. One of the many things I treasure about our group of friends is being able to be silly around each other. Having grown up together in our awkward teen years, there isn't anything that any of us had insecurities about any more!! So, on this lovely evening, we had dinner, drinks, and arcade games. Julie, Christy and I for some 'nameless' (AJ) reason thought it would be fun to ride mechanical horses. Needless to say, the 'ride' was not very graceful and I can imagine the spectacle of 'responsible adult' women trying to race these dilapidated metal horses against each other! Just looking at each other trying to move the horses faster made us all burst into laughter, so hard, my stomach ached! Christy's laugh was so infectious and never really cared what people thought, especially when she was with us. Walking down the strip with balloon animals on our heads, didn't seem to matter at all. What mattered was that we could be together as the people we are. |
